RELEASE Leesburg, Va. – April 2008 - The One Loudoun development team, along with elected bi-partisan state and local government officials Tuesday morning came together to celebrate the start of construction of what is being hailed as a critical missing link in Loudoun County’s roadways. Miller and Smith Vice President Bill May, Del. David Poisson (D-32) and Supervisors Lori Waters (R-Broad Run) and Susan Buckley (D-Sugarland Run) joined together to ceremoniously move dirt for what will be the much-anticipated extension of Russell Branch Parkway, connecting Loudoun County Parkway and Ashburn Village Boulevard. The $10 million road improvement, which is fully funded by One Loudoun, will work to ease congestion on Route 7, May said, and is scheduled to be open by the end of the year. One Loudoun has also agreed to fund and design improvements to Marblehead Drive, Exchange Street and an interchange at Ashburn Village Boulevard and Route 7, May said. “Russell Branch is absolutely essential as a collector road,” said Waters, who called the road improvement a “critical missing link” in the county’s transportation infrastructure. Waters also joined Poisson in highlighting team approach to turning One Loudoun into a reality. “We’re here today noting a transportation milestone,” Waters said. “This has been a true partnership between the county, schools, Miller and Smith [and others].” Poisson said One Loudoun has “made a remarkable effort in terms of outreach.” “Every step of the way Miller and Smith and One Loudoun has gotten it right,” he said. “Instead of telling us what they are going to do, they’ve asked how can we make this community better. It is very rare in this day and age to see a developer who devotes time to getting it right with the people of this community. We will make sure efforts like this don’t go unnoticed or unrewarded.” About One Loudoun:
